As of October 2014, the IBM x86 portfolio has officially transitioned to Lenovo, including Flex System.  All mention of IBM for these particular products are only temporary until they can be fully transitioned over time in name and marketing references to Lenovo.  As of April 2015, the Flex System line (and overall x86 portfolio) has been officially rebranded Lenovo, with support still continuing to be provided by IBM for the foreseeable long-term future.

Jimmy's Quick Tip

Flex System is a a custom solution, based on customer requirements using the custom built building blocks from Lenovo. This allows a client to integrate Lenovo's best of breed hardware with existing in-house talent and methodologies.  In addition to the "VMware special" x240 M5 node (based on Haswell v3), we also have the unique X6 line of nodes, which enables TBs of memory, while cutting the number of sockets needed by half or more (thus minimizing SW licensing).
